"Opportunities" is a community-led project. It aims to encourage and enable Glastonbury people to make the best possible use of their time and their talents - whether in employment, voluntary activities or further training and education.
Glastonbury hasn't had an opportunity shop since 1749, when Henry Fielding (the author of Tom Jones), opened his Universal Register Office - described as
"a sort of information and employment agency".
Glastonbury Opportunities is a community-run project organised by Glastonbury Community Development Trust and supported by:
JobCentre Plus, Comic Relief, the Glastonbury & Street Area Regeneration Board, NextStep Somerset, Somerset County Council's Neighbourhood Learning in Disadvantaged Communities and by the European Social Fund.
Open Weekdaysfrom 11 - 2, as of October 2006
